How net salary is calculated
Your net salary is what you actually get paid after municipal tax, any church fee and, for higher incomes, state tax have been deducted. The basic allowance (grundavdrag) and earned income tax credit (jobbskatteavdrag) reduce the taxable income and the final tax, respectively.
Why does net salary differ between municipalities?
Municipal tax (municipal and regional tax combined) is decided locally and varies by several percentage points across Sweden's 290 municipalities, meaning the same gross salary can produce a different net salary depending on where you live.
